Rules can vary

Doppelkopf has many house rules. Some groups remove the 9s and play "Sharp" Doppelkopf. Others play "Piglets," where both Aces of Diamonds become the strongest trumps.

If you join a group for the first time, ask about its house rules before the first deal. This guide follows the DDV tournament rules, but these basics apply to most variants.
